A crescendo of emotion
The Tonda 1950 embodies the very essence of the Parmigiani Fleurier style, with its streamlined profile and the harmony of its face and forms. In conceiving its new creation, the Manufacture's aim was to underscore this absolute elegance. On models with a stone-set bezel – a Brand classic – it was a natural choice to enhance the diamonds. The time had come to unveil a full stone-set model. This would give a vibrant, surprising new take on luxury.
Five different sizes were chosen for the round diamonds that adorn the dial. Their dimensions and position are the result of meticulous calculation. The framework design evolved through a series of sketches to achieve the perfect softness in the transition between the stones, with the smallest at the centre, followed by larger ones, and more smaller ones outside bordering the indices. There is no sense of repetition on this extraordinary piece, nor of an artificial or soulless setting. Instead, each diamond has been carefully considered in order to play its part in a spectacular ensemble, in which the dial appears domed thanks to a beguiling trompe l’œil effect. The stones shimmer in a unique, almost violent way, such is the brilliance of the light reflected from them.
This complex and intensely vibrant structural concept is yet another example of Parmigiani Fleurier's innovative might. 620 diamonds (totalling 2.495 carats) were used to decorate the dial, and 84 (totalling 0.6460 carats) for the bezel.
Variations on the bracelet theme
The Tonda 1950 Clarity with rose gold case is available with a bracelet with links of the same metal, for a highly sophisticated ensemble.
