PARMIGIANI FLEURIER AND SP-FOTO PARTNER FOR THE SECOND YEAR RUNNING

Renowned for being a champion of key cultural events worldwide, Parmigiani Fleurier is supporting the 9th São Paulo Photography Fair, SP-Arte/Foto, which takes place on the 20th-23rd of August at the JK Iguatemi shopping centre. The event will showcase the work of 30 Brazilian photographers.

This is the second consecutive year that the brand, which also took part in the São Paulo International Art Fair (SP-Arte) in 2014 and 2015, will sponsor the event. "The support of Parmigiani Fleurier is crucial for raising awareness and promoting young artists working through the medium of photography", explained Fernanda Feitosa, creator of the event, who has been named as a Parmigiani “Woman of Exception”.

This year, the Parmigiani Fleurier space will hold an exhibition entitled "The Passage of Time" by Guilherme Licurgo. The artist shot two photographic series which represent time. The first illustrates the passage of time photographed on an Ovale Pantographe watch. The second is an analogy for the passing hours, formed of photos of the same scene taken every hour over the course of a day; the same period measured by the hands of a clock.

A young talent in the field of photography, Guilherme Licurgo was chosen by the designer for the unique and sensitive photographic eye embodied in his recent work.

Licurgo discovered his passion for photography when he was selected by the renowned photographer Terry Richardson to model in his book Rio Cidade Maravilhosa (Rio: Marvellous City). In 2011, he was hand-picked by the president and creative director of Select NY to work on his first major international project, alongside Steven Klein, Johan Renck, Lori Goldstein and Sean Spellman. In the same year, he received the Ministry of Foreign Affairs award as one of the best contemporary artists of Brazil at the Itamaraty Contemporary Art Competition.

His most recent work includes a book and exhibition project with the renowned Martha Graham Dance Company – a beautiful chronicle of dancers composed of stunning photographs – which earned him the Visionaire award in 2014.
